Literacy and Basic Skills

The Native Literacy Program at the NWRC has been providing Literacy and Basic Skills for Native Women since 1986. We are open to women of all educations backgrounds who desire to upgrade their literacy skills in order to reach their personal, professional and academic goals.

Our goal is to educate the whole student – mind, heart, body and sprit. Through educating the mind to empower the spirit, we strive to engender self-confidence in our learners. Our learners also have access to a variety of cultural programming to compliment their learning experience.

We support the thought that Native Literacy is more than the three ‘R’s. It encompasses and appreciated the whole learner, encouraging women to discover their own gifts and talents in creating their future.

TTC fares to and from the Centre as well as limited child care are provided for registered learners. Meals are also provided at the Centre and learners are welcome to eat with us.
